Best Tips to Increase Your Adsense CTR (Click Through Rate) and CPC (Cost Per Click)

The biggest mistake I see with people using Adsense as a revenue strategy is forgetting that Adsense is a CPC based network. You get paid per click, not per impression.

However I keep seeing that people are not placing their ads on their websites to maximize their sales potential.

Forget about traffic for now. Here are 8 Effective Adsense Tips On How To Use Some Optimization Tricks I Made Over The Years To Double Your Income From Existing Traffic.

What Is Adsense Click-Through Rate (CTR)?

Google Adsense Click-Through Rate (CTR) is the number of clicks on your ads in relation to the number of times they are shown to your website visitors. For example, if your ad gets 5 clicks per 100 impressions, your AdSense CTR is 5%.

Here is a simple formula that Google uses to calculate Adsense CTR. count

Total Ad Clicks Total Impressions = Click Rate (CTR)

Apart from generating traffic, CTR is the most important factor influencing your AdSense sales.

There is no benefit to thousands of visitors when the CTR is very low.

A low CTR means you're not getting the full potential of your website traffic and you're doing a lot less than you could by generating more ad clicks.

How Is Adsense CTR Calculated?

I've given you the formula that Google uses to calculate Adsense CTR.

But what if you have multiple websites with the same Adsense code?

Listen.

Adsense CTR is calculated for your Adsense account, not for your individual websites.

So if you have four different websites and one of them has a very bad CTR, it will affect the overall CTR of your AdSense account.

Why Is Adsense CTR Important?

Why does it matter when my AdSense CTR is low?

First of all, it means that you are not making as much money as possible from your ads. Or because people don't find your content interesting and don't stay long enough to click on your ad.

Or maybe you haven't optimized your ads for conversions.

Second, Google uses your account CTR to determine the overall quality of your AdSense account, which will affect the ads displayed on your website.

What Is A Good Adsense CTR?

There are many theories and myths about Adsense's perfect CTR, but the reality is that no one really knows.

In my experience anything between 3%-5% is pretty good.

However, if you are in a high CPC niche, only 1% CTR can bring you that amount of money (or even more) compared to low CPC niche websites.

Create The Right Kind Of Content For Adsense

Before you start running ads, ad types or anything else, content type and quality are the most important factors that will affect your AdSense CTR.

If your content isn't engaging and people aren't staying on your site long enough, you won't get clicks on your ads.

The longer someone is on your website and the more they flip through your pages, the better your chances of generating clicks and making money with Adsense.

So what is the right type of content for Adsense?

  • Detailed and interesting articles with high quality content

  • List of publications
  • List of publications formatted as a slideshow
  • Heavy image content

  • Product reviews or technical content
  • Content sharing tips

  • Entertainment content

There are certain types of content that don't work well with Adsense, perhaps because of the niche and general audience behavior.

Message content
Poor quality and poorly written content
Overall, Adsense works well for websites where the goal of website visitors is to find a solution to their problem.

Websites that are based on hobbies or that visitors usually use to spend time don't usually do well.

Of course there are exceptions.

But that is my general opinion about the experience.

Use all your ad blocks, and make them big

Use all your ad units. Not only does it increase your click chances, but it also increases the inventory on your website that advertisers can bid on and increases the overall RPM.

You are allowed to use 3 ad units and 3 link units for each page on your website. While I don't usually use the link element, I do use 3 ad units no matter how short my content is.

Forget all the other size options that Adsense gives you. Bigger is better. Forget about mixing it with your content, just make it visible so people won't miss it.

I did a thorough color test and came to one conclusion: blending is not always the solution. As long as people can see it, click if it's something that interests them

Place at least 2 ads within the post content

I know mixing ads with your content is bad, but this is where your ads can get the most attention. I like to place at least 2 ad units in the content itself: 1 at the top and 1 at the bottom.

But I've also seen good results with a banner below the main title and a black banner in the sidebar at the top of the page like this.

For me, it's best to have the first ad right under the first paragraph and the second right after the content.

Use Red Instead of Blue

For a long time, I had the same color scheme on my pages: black text and blue links. Work.

But I found that using red links on my site instead of blue links worked much better. This may have something to do with people's natural blindness to ads with blue links, but red is far superior to blue.

Try to make all the links on your website red and then use the same red color for your Adsense ads. Try using maroon instead of bright red so your site doesn't look like it was made in 1999.

However, this is just my experience and no matter what research I have done, there is no consensus on which color performs better in relationships.

So the best way is to change the color of your links and measure the results to see if the overall CTR improves.

Are You Ready To Increase Your Adsense CTR?

As you learn from these Adsense tips, there are many things you can do to increase your existing traffic income.

If this doesn't work for you, consider alternatives to AdSense.

If you are serious about your site (that is, it makes a lot of money and you want to get every penny out of it) then having an ad layout in one location that fits everyone is not the best option.

You can leave a lot of money on the table by simply installing a plugin that displays ads at the top and bottom of each post.

Although many things about Adsense are beyond your control, you can use these Adsense optimization tips to experiment with your own website.
